Mactan Alfresco Menus and Filipino Food Names Translated to English


So, you wanna go on a munchtrip and you need a little help in knowing and understanding some of the food available in the establishments below?  Maybe I can share some of what I know, experienced, and researched.

You could be here for either of two things:
- you want to browse menus of Mactan Alfresco establishments (all these as of August 26, 2016)
- or you want a translation of certain Filipino food names

Either you want to research the food available in Mactan Alfresco or you want to make sure you know what you are eating, the menus below should be able to help.  I hope you find this information useful in your Filipino food munchtrips.

Dugo-dugo - a Cebuano term for "Dinuguan"; pig's blood stew made with pork offal and sometimes meat
Lechon - traditional Filipino slow-roasted pig stuffed with spices and seasonings

Puso - diamond prism-shaped rice in wrapped in coconut leaves

Dugo-dugo - a Cebuano pig's blood stew made with pork offal and sometimes meat
Halo-halo - a dessert with shaved ice, ice cream, beans, jelly, leche flan, purple yam jam, etc.
Lechon - traditional Filipino slow-roasted pig stuffed with spices and seasonings
Lechon Paksiw - a saucy lechon dish cooked the second time in more spices and seasonings
Ngohiong - a spring roll with Chinese 5-spiced bamboo blossoms or turnips as filling
